Duties and Responsibilities
This position is opened for international personnel only. Under the guidance and direct supervision of the UN Resident Coordinator, the Special Assistant to the RC is expected to perform the following duties and responsibilities:
- Compile background briefs and talking points for RC meetings with the support of relevant UN agencies and RCO colleagues.
- Prepare and follow up on UN Country Team, Security Management Team, and other key meetings (including preparation of the agenda, liaising and organizing with presenters, preparing minutes and follow up on action points).
- Support the Head of RCO and RCO colleagues in drafting the Annual Report, which outlines the UNCT’s results for the Resident Coordinator and the UNCT.
- Regularly gather up-to-date information from the UN website and other relevant sources.
- In coordination with the Head of RCO and Partnership Officer prepare for IDPG and UNCT meetings as well as prepare the draft minutes of the meetings.
- In coordination with the communication officer, Assist in the preparation and implementation of media and social media engagement for the RC, as well as proposed messages for the UN Country Team social media channels.
Qualifications/special skills
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in law, political science, international relations or other relevant discipline. 1-2 years of experience in report writing/editing.
Languages: Fluency in spoken and written English is required.

Output/Work assignment
- Prepare and follow up on UN Country Team, Security Management Team, and other meetings (including preparation of the agenda, liaising, and organising with presenters, preparing minutes and follow up on action points).
- Support in the preparation and execution of the UNCT Retreat and in the development of the SDG accelerators for the UNCT.
- Support the communication officer the preparation of media and social media engagement for the RC, UNCT and lead-up to Summit of the Future.
- Support RC in researching and downloading relevant information / research / news from UN website and other sources as per the regular needs.
- Provide support to the RCO on various reporting requirements, as and when needed assist in the organization and execution of various events, workshop etc. Participate and assist RCO colleagues in their coordination of UNCT working groups.
