Earthquake Response Project Coordinator

Reports to: Humanitarian Coordinator

Job Overview

The ERP Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of Karnali Earthquake Recovery Project in line with the CBM Global Strategy and CBM Nepal Country Strategy.

The recovery project aims to restore families and individuals affected by the Earthquake through disability inclusive livelihood interventions, advocacy and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS).

This position is responsible to oversee the project cycle management, project partnership, partner capacity building, relation with organization of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) and local stakeholder. S/he manages project budget, communications, reporting and MEAL. S/he will act as a focal person for the recovery project implementation with partners and stakeholders on behalf of the organization.

Based: Jajarkot or Rukum West, Karnali Province
Contract: Fixed-term Contract till December 2027

​Responsibilities and Duties

​Project Management:

  1. Support project partners to plan different stages of project implementation and ensure smooth implementation of work plan activities.
  2. Guide implementation of the project with regular follow up for achieving target outputs.
  3. Liaise with all internal and external counterparts of the projects.
  4. Assess the activities undertaken and ensure efficient use of resources.
  5. Ensure that technical quality and standards are considered during project
    implementation.
  6. Ensure all the reporting requirements of the partners are met as per the agreement.
  7. Manage project finances in close coordination with the finance team.
  8. Collect project related information and analyse associated opportunities and risks and advise partners accordingly.
  9. Ensure that security procedures are respected by each member of the project team.
  10. Build capacity of partner organisation and technical staffs in coordination with line manager on livelihood, MHPSS, disability inclusion and advocacy.

Partnership:

  1. Manage partner relations; collaborate closely with partners associated with the project.
  2. Ensure partners and other stakeholders have a clear understanding of project goals, and inspire, support, and motivate them to achieve envisioned goals.
  3. Participate in technical meetings to ensure visibility amongst local authorities; working groups involving NGOs, clusters and all other inter-governmental institutions; and pass relevant information to the line manager.
  4. Communicate with partners as the first point of contact on behalf of CBM.

​​Monitoring and Evaluation, Accountability and Learning:

  1. Set up a clear timeline of reports to be submitted to as per project requirement.
  2. Communicate systematically to the line manager and other project stakeholders on project progress and planning.
  3. Oversee the development and management of learning systems and ensure that the learning is incorporated across project.
  4. Conduct monitoring of technical quality of program interventions, and accountability.
  5. Identify and document best practices and lessons learned.
  6. Ensure project data are properly documented in close coordination with MEAL.
  7. Establish accountability mechanism in project along with the project partners.

Safeguarding:

  1. Accountable for ensuring that all children and adults who come into contact with CBM Global programmes, are safeguarded to the greatest extent possible.
  2. Responsible for ensuring compliance to all aspects of the CBM Global Safeguarding and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, abuse and harassment policies and associated standards and procedures.

All of the following requirements are essential, unless marked with a * when they are desirable, and will be assessed from a combination of information provided from the application form and interview process.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Demonstrated expertise in project cycle management with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in managing disaster recovery projects in I/NGOs.
  • Knowledge and experience of designing and implementing projects on livelihood, MHPSS* and Disability Inclusion*
  • Experience of working with multiple project partners simultaneously.
  • Experience of working with local Government mechanism, humanitarian/ development partners and working groups.
  • Demonstrated expertise on project reporting and documentation, and knowledge management.
  • Project financial management experience.

Qualifications, training, and education

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in social science, agriculture, disaster risk management or any other related field. Master’s degree preferred*.
