Summary:
The U.S. Mission in Kathmandu, Nepal is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Economic/Commercial Specialist. This position is open to all interested applicants.
The work schedule for this position is Full Time (40 hours per week).
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties
The Economic/Commercial Specialist provides advanced economic analysis and essential support to advance USG economic and commercial diplomacy priorities and is the preeminent USG expert on Nepal’s economy and finances. The incumbent researches, analyzes, and presents written and oral reports on developments in the economic and commercial sectors in Nepal and proposes courses of action by Embassy officers to advance U.S. objectives. The incumbent develops and maintains contacts across the spectrum of economic policy makers, business leaders, and civil society to inform the USG about relevant economic activity and the investment climate in Nepal. The incumbent provides business facilitation services to U.S. companies operating in or interested in operating in Nepal.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Five years of professional experience in the field of Commerce, Economics, or International Relations is required. Experience analyzing and reporting on economic issues is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge and familiarity with Nepal’s economic and commercial structure, institutions, and key personalities is required. Familiarity with economic principles, data, and ability to find information quickly is required
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in the field of economics, finance, public administration, international relations, or political science is required.

LANGUAGE: Fluent speaking/reading/writing English is required. Fluent speaking/reading/writing Nepali is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to prepare reports on a wide range of economic issues is required. Ability to develop and maintain contacts across the government, private sector, and civil society is required. Ability to use the Microsoft Office suite such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook , PowerPoint etc. is required. Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
