Education Officer

The Education Officer is responsible for providing support to Technical Advisor – Education for planning, execution, reporting, documentation, and management of program activities under the education component of USAID Clean Air. Under the guidance of the supervisor, the Officer is also responsible to support partner organizations, municipalities and other related stakeholders in their capacity strengthening, planning, policy making, and implementation of education activities in Kathmandu Valley.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the supervisor to provide necessary support in designing, implementing, and documenting all interventions under education component of USAID Clean Air project in close coordination with implementing partner, USAID Clean Air and FHI 360 Nepal Office team.
  • Support supervisor in preparation of annual and quarterly implementation plan and budget as well as prepare a detailed implementation plan.
  • Provide support in designing education interventions and in implementation of approved annual/quarterly/ monthly work/activity plans within approved scope, budget, timeline ensuring technical quality as well.
  • Provide support in liaising, facilitating and coordinating key stakeholders, including municipal authorities, head teachers, teachers, school management committees, community-based organizations for planning, implementing, documenting and communicating education interventions.
  • Provide support in carrying out regular monitoring and follow ups of education related activities being implemented through education partners to ascertain progress against plans, budget and identify challenges, lessons learnt and emerging need to support redesigning of interventions.
  • Assist in generation of evidence-based data, information/learning on the outcomes of the project on target children’s learning and wellbeing with technical support from Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) team and Technical Advisor–Education.
  • Represent USAID Clean Air in relevant forums as assigned by the Technical Advisor–Education.
  • Work closely with USAID Clean Air Program Officer to provide necessary details for initiating admin related requests including procurement requests for events, goods and services, settling expenses related to activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or social science, or a related field with three to five years of experience or master’s degree with one to three years of experience in the above-mentioned field.
  • Experience in managing education projects with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and understanding of status of education sector in Nepal, in particular green school programs and approaches.
  • Demonstrated commitment to improving the lives of children, girls and boys including those with special needs in schools and vulnerable and marginalized households.
  • Proven technical knowledge and skills in the development field, child participation, education and influencing policies and practices to foster children’s equitable access to safe and quality learning/education.
  • Proactive in managing multiple tasks, managing, and working in the virtual work environment, and flexible and open for managing time for working with different teams both in FHI 360 and with partner organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, team building and management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written English and Nepali including documentation skills.
