Position Overview
The Program Planning Support Officer will support documenting and managing logistics and analyzing HMIS data related to nutrition-specific programs within the Health Coordination Division/Section of the Ministry of Health and Population (MOHP). This position will work closely with the MoHP team and USAID Integrated Nutrition. The position will also support the development of the annual workplan and budgets of the USAID Integrated Nutrition to align with the national nutrition priorities. The Program Planning Support Officer provides essential support in planning, coordinating, and managing nutrition within the MoHP. This role ensures effective implementation, compliance, and systematic documentation of nutrition-specific initiatives. This position is seconded to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) and will involve close collaboration with USAID and USAID Integrated Nutrition to advance the national nutrition agenda through multisectoral programming and health system strengthening.
Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Program Implementation
- Assist in developing detailed program plans for health and nutrition programs within MoHP, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Support the implementation of USAID Integrated Nutrition activities at the federal level.
Data Management, Documentation and Reporting
- Support the Planning Section under the Health Coordination Division in systematically documenting nutrition programs, including event reports, meeting minutes, letters, notes (Tippani), lessons learned, and success stories.
- Maintain an organized filing system for all documentation.
- Facilitate technical support to the XXXX Section to optimize HMIS data related to nutrition and health services.
- Facilitate the regular updating and operation of databases in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
Coordination and Communication
- Coordinate with relevant organizations, ministries, departments, divisions and stakeholders to ensure timely communication regarding events, programs and meetings organized by MoHP/USAID Integrated Nutrition and ensure stakeholder participation in advance.
- Provide support and facilitate coordination between USAID Integrated Nutrition and government entities (interministerial departments/divisions, provincial health offices, municipalities) to design and implement annual work plans as needed.
- Support regular and timely coordination and communication between USAID Integrated Nutrition and MoHP.
Qualifications and Competencies
Educational Degree
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in Bachelor’s degree in public health nutrition, health science, management ,social science, or relevant area.
Experiences Years
- Minimum 3 years of experience in related field.
- Experience working with the government (preferably with federal or province level).
- Experience in health-related programs.
Communication Skills
- Good coordination and facilitation skills.
- Proven skills in documentation prefer both languages (Nepali & English).
- Proficient computer skills – proficient in data analysis, reporting, presentations, and nutrition-related software.
Reporting and Supervision
Reports to the XXXX, Health Coordination Division, MoHP, with technical oversight from USAID Integrated Nutrition.
Works closely with the Policy and Planning Division, Department of Health Services (DoHS), and USAID-supported project teams.
Regular coordination with other sectoral ministries, USAID partners, and donors supporting nutrition programs in Nepal.
