Technical Coordinator: Agriculture

Location: Achham

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Achham, Nepal. The position is paid according to paygrade.

WHH is seeking to recruit a Technical Coordinator (Agriculture) who will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support to partners in the areas of food systems and nutrition. The role involves but is not limited to building the capacity of teams and partners, supporting innovation, and contributing to the design of project ideas and proposals. The position also requires managing partnerships at the local and provincial levels, ensuring effective collaboration with WHH’s goals.

Your responsibilities

  • The specific responsibilities include:
  • Support in Identifying, designing, and assessing new project ideas, concept notes and proposals ensuring an integrated, programmatic approach with a lens on responding to the challenges of climate change.
  • Partnerships coordination at the local level which includes joint planning with the partners on various project deliverables.
  • Roll out and monitor innovations in the program.
  • With support from the Technical Expert Food Systems and Nutrition, assess and further develop the capacity of the partners, government officials, and other stakeholders on food systems, nutrition, and livelihoods promotion.
  • Coordinate with provincial and local governmental stakeholders, contribute to their strategies/ policies, and maintain active, transparent, and accountable positive relations.
  • Attend and represent WHH at relevant meetings, networks, thematic working groups, etc., and actively contribute as agreed with the Technical Expert Food Security and Nutrition
  • Decision-making and judgment based on technical and management experience.
  • Coordinate project implementation monitoring, and reporting in collaboration with local partners, the WHH MEAL Team, and Technical Expert Food Systems and Nutrition for various projects related to Agriculture and Livelihoods
  • Accompanying donors, WHH missions from abroad, government officials, and other relevant stakeholders to the field.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Technical Expert Food Systems and Nutrition

Your profile

  • Nepali citizen having a bachelor’s degree in agriculture, or related field.
  • Medium levels of skills and expertise in the subject matter.
  • At least 3 years of similar experience in food security and nutrition, climate smart agriculture, economic development, and livelihoods.
  • Desired management experience of 1-2 years.
  • Good understanding and experience in partnership management.
  • Proven experience in interactive training facilitation
  • Understanding and practical experience of programming based on Systems Thinking.
  • Good understanding and knowledge of Climate Change, Triple Nexus, LRRD etc.
  • Knowledge of sector-related (Food System and Nutrition) national guidelines, policies, sector strategies as well as international frameworks
  • Knowledge of food system, livelihoods, agriculture, and economic development in various contexts viz. humanitarian, development and DRR is an added advantage.
  • Good understanding of gender and social inclusion-related issues is an asset
  • Excellent in written and spoken English and Nepali languages.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent Organizational skills.
  • Excellent coordination and facilitation skills
  • Creative, flexible, and pro-active, willingness to learn and to share knowledge.
  • Proven ability to work creatively, innovatively, and effectively with limited direct supervision.
  • Willingness to work in the field, with overnight stays (village level):- remote areas of Nepal.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook) and web-based communications systems/ technologies.
  • Knowledge and experience in digital-based (smart-phone) based data collection and analysis.
  • Desired qualities and characteristics:
  • Works well in and promotes teamwork, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible, and able to work well under pressure and in response to changing needs.
  • Political and cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Able to take initiative, self-motivated/independently working.
