Technical Specialist – Health and Nutrition (4 positions)

The Technical Specialist – Health and Nutrition Services are responsible for developing and implementing quality assurance and quality improvement strategies, conducting assessments and reviews, providing technical guidance to USAID Integrated Nutrition team at the provincial level, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement to enhance the delivery of services and achieve USAID Integrated Nutrition objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support in context-specific designing and implementation of nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive interventions to USAID Integrated Nutrition team and partner non-government organizations (PNGOs) at the provincial and local level.
  • Provide technical assistance to PNGOs in annual co-creation workshops at the province and municipal levels to formulate a detailed implementation plan for USAID Integrated Nutrition, aligning with the nutritional needs and problems of province and municipality under the framework of the Multi Sector Nutrition Plan implementation.
  • Support in developing, managing, and maintaining coordination and collaboration with other consortium leads and partners, as well as relevant government, non-government, and private sector stakeholders at the provincial level.
  • Liaise with FHI 360 headquarters and regional nutrition and private sector engagement experts to ensure timely high-quality inputs.
  • Provide support to PNGOs in the development, implementation, and monitoring of annual work plans and budgets, and ensure the timely and thorough completion of all reports and documentation requirements.
  • Contribute to the preparation of program reports, monthly updates, other necessary technical and programmatic documents and documentation of successes, lessons learned and good practice.
  • Ensure the integration of Gender and Inclusive Development principles in health nutrition services at the provincial, district, and local levels.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in public health, behavioral and social sciences, or a related field with three to five years of experience in managing public health programs (nutrition preferred), or a bachelor’s degree with over five years of experience as mentioned above.
  • Experience and understanding of the national nutrition program components and implementation requirements.
  • Experience in working in a diverse team to implement public health programs—preferably with a focus on nutrition program.
  • Experience in leadership in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships and partnerships with consortium partners and major stakeholders.
  • Proactive in managing multiple tasks, managing and working in the virtual work environment, and flexible, adaptive and open to managing time as needed for and demanded by the project and for working with different teams in different time zones as needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, coordination and collaboration, team building and management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written English and Nepali including documentation skills.
